Depuis plus de vingt ans, Mathieu Pernot photographie la famille Gorgan, Roms installés en périphérie d’Arles. Un jour, un double événement surgit et la nécessité de faire un film pour raconter cette histoire s'impose. Dikhav est ce film.

« C'est l'histoire de Jonathan – un gitan que j'ai connu enfant, devenu adulte – et des siens : Rocky, son frère ainé décédé, Ninaï sa mère, Johny son père et ses six autres frères et sœurs. Jonathan a été condamné à deux ans de prison ferme au nouveau centre pénitentiaire du Pontet. C'est là que je vais le retrouver pour l'entendre parler de sa vie et de la disparition de son frère. Ce documentaire dresse le portrait d'un homme de 25 ans de chaque côté des murs de la prison. Il parcourt le chaos d'un terrain vague occupé par des familles Roms sédentarisées et l'ordre établi d'une prison française moderne. Il révèle l'intimité de la relation entre le monde des vivants et des morts au sein de cette communauté. Ce film est le portrait d'une famille. Des vies, deux lieux, une histoire. »

For more than twenty years, Mathieu Pernot has been photographing the Gorgan family, Roma living on the outskirts of Arles. One day, a double event occurs and the need to make a film to tell this story arises. Dikhav is that film.

"It is the story of Jonathan - a gypsy I knew as a child, now an adult - and his family: Rocky, his deceased older brother, Sinai his mother, Johny his father and his six other siblings. Jonathan was sentenced to two years in the new prison of Le Pontet. It is there that I will meet him to hear him talk about his life and the disappearance of his brother. This documentary paints a portrait of a 25-year-old man on both sides of the prison walls. It traverses the chaos of a wasteland occupied by settled Roma families and the established order of a modern French prison. It reveals the intimacy of the relationship between the world of the living and the dead within this community. This film is the portrait of a family. Lives, two places, one story.
